NAVIGATION: Navigation within the New Meixco Multli-Hazard Mapper is controlled by either using the tools on the left of the main map or by using the small yellow buttons on the borders of the main map. To use the Zoom controls click the tool and then click on the map. To Zoom In to a particular area click on the map and drag a box around the area of interest. Clicking the yellow arrows on the border of the map will move the map in the direction of the arrow.
MAP LAYER CONTROL: Two reference map layers are included in the custom map viewer. The first is a color LANDSAT image that will appear on the screen until the user is zoomed into a local level. The second is the red county layer.
Each layer has two controls, the display control and the query control. Image layers are available at two scales. Statewide DOQQ (Digital Orthophoto Quarter Quadrangles) are available at zoomed in levels but due to their large size they will be turned off when zoomed out. Fine resolution DOQQs are available for Santa Fe County and they show fine detail at a scale up to 60 meters across the extent of the map. Query-able layers have a small round button to their left under the column labeled QUERY. Select the button next to the layer that you wish to query and then click on a feature for that layer in the map. The information about that feature will appear in a separate window. Several FEMA and flood hazard layers are specific to Santa Fe County and are best viewed at zoom levels inside of Santa Fe County. These layers are indicated with the "Santa Fe" prefix. OTHER FEATURES:
The locator map in the lower right indicates the location of your present view in New Mexico. Below the locator map, a blue link generates a PDF file of the map with the layers that are currently shown in the main map viewer. Once you have chosen the layers and area of interest, clicking this button will produce a PDF map with a legend.
